About Chris
Chris Tanner is an Executive Coach, Organisational Consultant, and an Associate Professor. His career was in the mental health field, working as a practitioner and, ultimately, director of several therapeutic communities
Following an early career in social services and education, he has worked as an Operational Director with the Priory Group. He is the Course Director for the University of Essex’s MA Management and Organisational Dynamics. He is an Associate Professor with the NHS Leadership Academy, working on both the Bevan (aspiring Executive Director) and Anderson (Senior Leadership) programmes.
As Training Director for OPUS, he has designed and delivered Group Relations (Experiential Leadership) conferences in the UK, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, and Singapore. His coaching and consultancy work focuses on developing insight into below-the-surface dynamics at individual, team, and system levels.
Recent engagements include consultations to creative leads in the film industry, HE wellbeing teams, construction industry boards, and multi-disciplinary teams in the health, education, and social care field.
Further consultancy projects include the design and delivery of several leadership development programmes (Health Trusts, HE sector), an evaluation of a care homes community engagement initiative (voluntary sector), and a director-level coaching programme (private sector). He is an experienced facilitator, regularly providing support for teams under pressure, in both the public and private sectors.
Chris’ areas of expertise lie in Leadership Development, Coaching and Organisational Consultancy, Team Consultancy and Organisational Research and Evaluation. He counts the Ministry of Justice and Priory Group amongst his clients, delivering Executive Coaching programmes to their employees and Senior Management Teams.
Chris is a visiting lecturer and a facilitator on Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programmes at Essex University and the University of East Anglia.
